KEY IDEAS:
- Ahead of Super Bowl LIX, New Orleans needed a way to share information and coordinate responses across public safety agencies.
- Without a unified system, agencies often struggle to share intelligence and identify threats quickly, leading to slower, more reactive responses.
- Data integration connects real-time and historical information across agencies, creating a shared operating picture.
- Peregrine powered New Orleans’ emergency operations center, enabling personnel to identify threats and respond faster.
NEW ORLEANS — Following the Jan. 1 terror attack in New Orleans, the New Orleans Police Department and New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness deployed Peregrine to support the federal, state, and local security agencies safeguarding hundreds of thousands of visitors and residents attending Super Bowl LIX activities.
In the lead-up to Super Bowl LIX, New Orleans city officials began leveraging Peregrine to securely integrate crime databases, body cameras, police location data, suspicious activity reports, sensor feeds, transit routes, and critical infrastructure data from a vast array of fragmented government-owned systems.
🔎 WHAT DOES REAL-TIME DATA INTEGRATION ENABLE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES?
When data from multiple systems is connected in real time, agencies can see what’s happening across their operations in one place. This makes it easier to coordinate across departments, respond to incidents faster, and investigate issues more effectively.
“Hosting the Super Bowl is a massive challenge for any city, and we knew we needed the best technologies to keep our residents and visitors safe. Peregrine was the obvious answer to manage real-time operations and rapidly investigate issues throughout the event,” said New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. “Simply put, this technology gave our staff a real-time picture of what was happening across the city, along with rapid investigative capability and powerful audit controls to protect the privacy and freedoms of Super Bowl eventgoers.”
By Sunday morning, New Orleans City Hall was transformed into a real-time emergency operations center staffed by city police and health, emergency management, and federal agency partners like Homeland Security and the FBI. There, Peregrine served as New Orleans’ central data platform.
📊 KEY CAPABILITIES: Using Peregrine, public safety officials were able to…
- Review criminal threats
- Identify early indicators of potential attacks
- Coordinate responses to issues like human trafficking
“From my years in law enforcement, I know firsthand the challenges facing our brave first responders. Technologies like Peregrine make us safer and more secure by allowing local, state, and federal agencies to communicate and coordinate like never before, while at the same time protecting personal privacy,” said Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. “Emergency prevention and response works best when we are sharing information in real time. With Peregrine, we certainly feel more prepared for daily policing and emergency response as well as for major events such as the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras.”
🧠 WHY IT MATTERS: Large-scale events require multiple agencies to operate from the same information in real time. Without a unified platform, critical signals can be missed or delayed.
The advancements in security for Super Bowl LIX were a top priority for players, the league, and organizers.
“We need this software in every city with a professional sports team,” said Marcus Brown, Chair of the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee.
Peregrine’s deployment at Super Bowl LIX was part of a growing set of new use cases enabled by the company’s data integration and decision support platform for public safety and commercial enterprises.
🔑 KEY TAKEAWAY: Peregrine enabled New Orleans to unify fragmented public safety data into a real-time operational picture, improving coordination across local, state, and federal agencies during Super Bowl LIX, one of the largest public safety operations in the country.
