The Times: On Patrol With US Cops Using AI Tech on Its Way to the UK
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 27, 2026) — The Times home affairs correspondent Matt Dathan recently spent two days embedded with the Kansas City Police Department to see how Peregrine is transforming real-world policing in the field.
“This is the future of policing in action,” Dathan wrote in The Times.
Dathan witnessed a high-speed chase from the backseat of a patrol car, the apprehension of a suspected car hijacking suspect, and the real-world application of Peregrine to help field officers locate their suspect using real-time data.
“The software was at their fingertips throughout their ‘East Patrol’ shift as they hunted criminals — from robbery suspects, domestic abusers, drug dealers and multiple shooters — all the while listening to rock classics on the Jack FM radio station interspersed with communications from the police radio channel,” Dathan wrote.
Read about Dathan’s experience and his take on Peregrine in action on The Times’ website.
