NBC4 Washington: Fairfax County police use Peregrine to ID child abduction suspect
October 1, 2025

"To see technology in the form of Peregrine be able to literally solve a case faster than two dozen detectives could solve it, by putting the puzzle pieces together and finding literally a needle in the haystack — a needle in the haystack is what Peregrine does for detectives."

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (Oct. 1, 2025) — Fairfax County recently fielded a 911 call about a man who had attempted to abduct a toddler in a local mall. Within 13 minutes of receiving that call, agency personnel were able to identify the suspected abductor — with the help of Peregrine.
Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) Maj. Hudson Bull told NBC4 Washington that the parents had snapped a photo of the suspect, which became key evidence in solving the crime. An FCPD analyst was able to use that photograph and Peregrine to quickly identify the suspect.
"She was able to use the Peregrine system to type in the identifiers of the person in the photograph and match those to a record we had of a mugshot of a person who also fit that same description," Maj. Bull told NBC4.
The agency then swiftly located and apprehended the suspect.
FCPD Chief Kevin Davis told NBC4 Washington that Peregrine was able to solve the case "faster than two dozen detectives could solve it by putting the puzzle pieces together and finding literally a needle in the haystack."
