Twenty-five years ago today, the world changed in the span of a single morning. Many of us remember exactly where we were when we first understood what was happening: the disbelief, the fear, and then, in the days that followed, the extraordinary resolve of people who ran toward danger instead of away from it.

We think often of the first responders of September 11th: the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and volunteers who walked into buildings others were fleeing. Some never came home. Many more continue to bear the physical and emotional weight of that day. Their courage remains one of the clearest examples of what it means to serve something larger than yourself.

That spirit of service lives in our own colleagues who served that day and in the long, difficult work of recovery that followed. To those of you: thank you. Thank you for what you did then, and for the quiet way many of you have carried it since. We are grateful to work alongside you.
